There are diverse investment opportunities available in Romania to suit investors’ objectives.
Where to invest in Romania?
Broadly, there are three general locations which offer investment opportunities.
· Land or property in and around the capital, Bucharest
· Holiday apartments in Constanta, on the Black Sea Coast
· Tourism land and property around Brasov
Much of the corporate investment activity and rapid economic growth has centred on Bucharest. Following this trend by investing in land or property around Bucharest could produce the greatest returns in the short to medium term. Holiday apartments on the Black Sea coast could also produce good returns, though foreign demand is likely to be limited. Land and property around Brasov, which is the centre for accessing Romania’s mountains, could produce good returns as recreation time and demand for second homes grows.
Property or Land in Romania?
Buying property in Romania is likely to produce good capital returns for investors. Building costs are low and property is cheap relative to other East European comparisons. Depending upon area, rental returns can also be profitable.
Buying land in Romania offers the potential for great capital appreciation for investors. Domestic demand for land in commuting distance of major cities is growing rapidly. People want to move out of communist era apartment blocks and self-build, as building costs are low. While there are no rental returns, there are no management or maintenance costs and this can provide a convenient way to invest in Romania.
